M. Night Shyamalan is returning with yet another psychological horror film – this time one with apocalyptic tones. The new film, titled Knock at the Cabin, is based on the 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World. As you can see below, the first official trailer for the film has been released, and it teases just how tense and eerie this new film will be.
Furthermore, the cast for the film is led by Guardians of the Galaxy and Army of the Dead star Dave Bautista. As such, it’s a bit of a change for the actor, with Shyamalan citing Bautista’s performance in Blade Runner 2049 as the reason he was cast in this film.
Here’s the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin:
The plot of the film takes place “at a remote cabin,” where “a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse.” They further have “limited access to the outside world,” so that “the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.” As such, it sounds like an exciting and thrilling new take on the genre from filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the project as we have them.
M. Night Shyamalan directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Steve Desmond & Michael Sherman. It’s based on the bestseller The Cabin at the End of the World from author Paul Tremblay. M. Night Shyamalan produced the film alongside Marc Bienstock and Ashwin Rajan. The executive producers are Steven Schneider, Christos V. Konstantakopoulos and Ashley Fox.
The cast includes Dave Baustista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint.
The film will be available to see in theaters on February 3, 2023.
