Saw: The Final Chapter was the last film in the Saw horror franchise for quite some time. It was released in 2010 and it wouldn’t be until 2017 that fans finally got another outing with the movie Jigsaw. This particular film was then followed with a spin-off of sorts, titled Spiral: From the Book of Saw, which took the franchise into new directions. Now it looks like Saw 10 is being prepared for a 2023 release date – and it has a familiar director attached.
As revealed by Bloody-Disgusting, Kevin Greutert has been slated to direct the next Saw entry. He’s familiar to Saw fans as he previously directed Saw VI and the aforementioned Saw: The Final Chapter.
He’s also known for having edited the first five Saw films in addition to Jigsaw. So he’s certainly a good fit for the tenth Saw film.
Furthermore, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules had the following statement:
“We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love. And part of that is giving the reins to Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, which is still one of the fans’ favorites in the entire series.
“More details will be revealed soon.”
It looks like we’ll have to wait for further news on the upcoming film. But this is certainly an exciting update and one that hopefully means this new film will be a return to form. Especially knowing how involved Kevin Gruetert has been with the franchise since the very beginning. Saw 10 will be the tenth film in the long-running horror film franchise – so that’s certainly a good reason to be excited about this project. With the promise that more details will be revealed soon, it’ll be exciting to see what’s announced next.
Fans can expect to see the next film in the Saw franchise to be released on October 27, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them. It definitely seems as though now is going to be a great time to be both a Saw fan and a horror fan.
