Kevin Spacey has been in the center of numerous sexual misconduct allegations over the last few years. This resulted in the actor being fired from the hit Netflix series House of Cards. Now Kevin Spacey has been ordered to pay House of Cards producer MRC nearly $31 million for the alleged sexual misconduct that he was involved in.
As revealed via Deadline, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mel Red Recana confirmed that Kevin Spacey would have to pay $31 million to MRC. This decision was made after Kevin Spacey’s attorney attempted to invalidate the ruling. But, as pointed out by the judge, this was not “even a close case.” As such, Kevin Spacey will still be paying the $31 million to MRC and there’s nothing they can do to argue with the decision.
With this in mind, MRC’s counsel Michael J. Kump of Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley LLP said in his statement to Deadline that they “are pleased with the court’s ruling.” Indeed, despite continuing to deny that he ever sexually assaulted anyone, Kevin Spacey is still forced to indulge the ruling.
The sexual allegations made against Kevin Spacey first began in 2017. Actor Anthony Rapp claimed that the actor first made a sexual advance towards him in 1986. At this time, Rapp would have only been 14-years-old. As a result, many others began making claims against Kevin Spacey and the allegations only continued to grow. Soon enough, the allegations included crew members from House of Cards – bringing us to where we are today.
Although many film productions and industry members have blacklisted Kevin Spacey or fired him from their projects, much in the way he was removed from House of Cards, he’s still been making something of a comeback lately. The actor has announced several upcoming projects and he’s even used a few online Christmas videos to maintain an audience in the time since these allegations began.
