Everyone is well-aware at this point of the legal debacle between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard. Furthermore, everyone is aware that Johnny Depp won the most recent trial against Amber Heard. What fans might not know, however, is why the jury decided to side with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. Now a juror has opened up to explain why they sided with Johnny Depp over Amber Heard.
According to an interview with Good Morning America, it was the testimonies given by Amber Heard that made the jury side with Johnny Depp. They apparently did not feel comfortable with the way she expressed herself.
As the juror explained:
“The crying, the facial expressions that she had, the staring at the jury—all of us were very uncomfortable,” the juror told ABC. “She would answer one question and she would be crying and then two seconds later she would turn ice cold… Some of us used the expression ‘crocodile tears.’”
While the juror did believe both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were “abusive to each other,” it was Amber Heard’s side of things that “didn’t add up.” It also appears that she just did not have enough evidence to back up her claims.
“But to rise to the level of what she was claiming, there wasn’t enough or any evidence that really supported what she was saying,” he added.
It appears that Johnny Depp’s legal team also succeeded and removing some of Amber Heard’s credibility when they discussed her charity pledges. Although she’s pledged to donate her $7 million divorce settlement to charity, she has yet to do so, and the jury took notice.
“She goes on a talk show in the U.K. The video shows her sitting there telling the host that she gave all that money away, and the terms she used in that video clip were, ‘I gave it away,’ ‘I donated it,’ ‘It’s gone,’ but the fact is she didn’t give much of it away at all,” the juror noted.
Finally, the juror believes that Johnny Depp was “more believable” as a result.
“He just seemed a little more real in terms of how he was responding to questions. His emotional state was very stable throughout,” they revealed.
While Amber Heard claims Johnny Depp manipulated the jury by acting, and that she blames social media for mocking her, she also intends to appeal the verdict. As such, it seems likely that this is not the end of her debacle with Johnny Depp. But as these conversations continue, it’ll be interesting to see if she can dig herself out of what the juror called “a fiasco.”
