The newly forged Warner Bros Discovery has been busy with its “overhaul” of Warner Bros and its various properties. This now includes the major streaming platform HBO Max, which is being closely analyzed by CEO David Zaslav. As some fans already know, David Zaslav is eagerly cutting down the company’s budget, reducing as much as $3 billion, and he’s now cancelled a beloved HBO Max series as a result. Specifically, it turns out that the science-fiction series Made for Love has now been cancelled by the streaming platform following the conclusion of its second season. As noted by Variety, HBO Max delivered an official statement on the matter.
They spoke very positively about the series and took the time to thank everyone involved with its production.
Here’s what they stated:
“We are tremendously grateful for the truly spectacular journey of these past two seasons, courtesy of Alissa Nutting, Christina Lee, Cristin, Billy, Ray and the entire ‘Made for Love’ cast and creative team – especially Zelda the talking dolphin and everyone’s favorite synthetic love interest, Diane,” representatives for HBO Max said in a statement Friday. “Like a Gogol chip, the series will always be on our minds.”
This is definitely a disappointing announcement for fans of the series. Especially considering that the second season of the series ends on a cliffhanger. With that said, Warner Bros Discovery seems like it has other projects prioritized instead.
The cast for the series starred Cristin Miloti as Hazel Green and Billy Magnussen as Byron Gogol. The cast also included Ray Romano as Herbert Green, Dan Bakkedahl as Herringbone, Noma Dumezweni as Fiffany, and Augusto Aguilera as the Liver. The second season introduced Caleb Foote as Bennett Hobbes and Sarunas J. Jackson as Jay aka Jasper.
The science-fiction series Made for Love is currently available to stream via HBO Max. Due to the cancellation, there are only two seasons of the fan-favorite series available.
