2018’s Avengers: Infinty War Part One will see the the titular heroes take on their most dangerous foe yet in the form of The Mad Titan, Thanos. With such a deadly enemy to face, it would make sense that the Avengers would draft in their a allies from the small screen, however a recent comment from the films directors reveals it may not be the case.
Whilst promoting the most recent addition to the MCU, Captain America: Civil War, one of the films directors, Joe Russo was asked by BadTaste. It whether we could be seeing the Defenders or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. join the battle. He revealed:
“The Marvel Universe is sprawling – the Marvel Cinematic Universe is enormous. Just think of all the characters that haven’t been introduced yet that are going to be introduced by the time that we’re working on Infinity War,‘ before adding ‘We have a tough task just telling the stories of the characters who exist [on the big screen] in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone adding the entire Marvel Television universe.”
Although the Captain America: The Winter Soldier director go on to give fans some hope, explaining:
“Anything is possible in the Marvel Universe. It’s certainly something we’re considering, But our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side.”
It certainly feels like a threat this big would require every possible hero to get involved, similar to how the comic The Infinity Gauntlet saw the marvel universe join together to take on an Infinity Gauntlet wielding Thanos. It would definitely be a great opportunity to show off the continuity they have created and how it’s all connected. At the very least the show could feature tie-ins to the film.
