Disney has been successfully releasing a variety of live-action adaptations inspired by many of their classic animated films. With several others on the way, it’s interesting to see that Disney will also be releasing some of these projects on their Disney Plus streaming service. One such project is an all-new live-action adaptation of their classic 1940 animated film Pinocchio. The film was initially announced several years ago, and after a lengthy production period, fans will finally be getting to see the movie later this year. This is evident in the brand-new Pinocchio teaser trailer released by Disney Plus.
As you can see below, the film appears to follow the familiar events from the original animated feature, albeit with a few modernizations and a more diverse cast. Nevertheless, it looks like it will be an exciting take on the beloved story and characters that have remained highlights of Disney’s iconic catalogue of characters. With the film scheduled for a release date later this year, fans can likely expect more looks at the upcoming film in the near future as well.
Here’s the new trailer for Pinocchio:
Robert Zemeckis directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Chris Weitz.
The cast for the new film features Tom Hanks as Geppetto, Cynthia Erivo as The Blue Fairy, and Luke Evans as The Coachman. As for the voice cast, the film features Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the titular Pinocchio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest, and Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull.
Fans will be able to see the new iteration of Pinocchio on Disney Plus in September 2022. Until then, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on this film and any other Disney or Disney Plus projects as we have them. It’s certainly going to be an exciting time for fans of the company.
