You generally know what you’re getting with a Rebecca Hall-led film. The London-born actress has had some astounding performances in films like Christine and The Night House, and she’s keeping it going with IFC Film’s Resurrection. The sophomore feature Andrew Semans—who pulls double duty as writer and director—had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and garnered rave reviews.
Margaret, played by Hall, is a single mother trying to make her way in the business world while caring for her daughter, Abbie, played by Grace Kaufman. When Margaret sees a familiar face, David, played by Tim Roth, might turn Margaret’s world upside down. A secret between the two that connects them will turn this psychological thriller into a white-knuckle ride that will surely showcase several jaw-dropping moments. I’m sure the ending of this film will be something everyone will be talking about when released.
The movie is based on an original screenplay that appeared on the 2019 Black List and is shaping up to have an insane WTF ending. Check out the teaser trailer and see for yourself.
Hall’s performance displays a woman ready for revenge, and Tim Roth does what he does best and brings his acting game to showcase the high level of “creep” his character oozes for Resurrection.
Here’s what to know about Seaman’s jaw-dropping Resurrection:
Margaret (Rebecca Hall) leads a successful and orderly life, perfectly balancing her busy career and single parenthood demands to her fiercely independent daughter Abbie. Everything is under control. But that careful balance is upended when an unwelcome shadow from her past, David (Tim Roth), returns, carrying the horrors of Margaret’s past with him. Battling her rising fear, Margaret must confront the monster she’s evaded for two decades who has come to conclude their unfinished business.
The film will be released on August 5th and will be streaming exclusively on Shudder in November 2022.
