It seems to have become more common in recent years to see people use clown masks as a disguise. The popularity of films like IT: Chapter One and its sequel have rejuvenated the look which has, unfortunately, been used by a lot of criminals or other people looking to start trouble. Now it appears another individual, wearing a clown mask that seems just a little too reminiscent of killer clown Pennywise, has used the disguise to steal a puppy.
The individual was caught in the act via security footage, which shows them running off with the puppy in their mask that looks quite similar to Pennywise. The incident occurred last month on March 19 in Dakabin located in Queensland, Australia. It’s clear in the footage that after casually walking through the building, they actually managed to use an electric hacksaw to remove the puppy from its cage.
As you can see in the footage shared below:
What’s especially heartbreaking is that the puppy, a four-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Cashew, was scheduled to be adopted the next day. As you can imagine, it’s quite a heartbreaking scenario. Especially more than likely for the family that was hoping to adopt Cashew. Fortunately, Cashew was recovered after four days. More recently, it appears that the man who stole the puppy has actually come forward in court.
As noted by 9 News Queensland on Facebook, it appears that the man in the clown mask, named Brendan Meers, has admitted in court that he stole Cashew. According to Meers, one of his friends had told him the dog was his. As such, Meers was attempting to steal what he thought was his friend’s puppy back for him. After admitting to this in court, Meers was not convicted but rather fined $500 dollars and ordered to pay $250 in damages. At the very least, it’s great to know that Cashew is now safe and sound.
