Fans are anxious for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the highly-anticipated sequel to James Wan’s blockbuster film Aquaman. The film will once again star actor Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, and now fans can see him back in action in the iconic role. Warner Bros has released the first footage for Aquaman 2 in their newly-released The World Needs Heroes promo, which features a variety of other DCEU snippets as well.
In particular, the footage shows scenes from the upcoming films The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash, and the aforementioned Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. With the Aquaman scenes, we only get a brief shot of Jason Momoa near some ruins, with another shot of the throne. We also have this little exchange of dialogue which seems to have been taken from the first Aquaman film.
Specifically, it’s a recording of Jason Momoa saying:
“What could be greater than a king?
A hero.”
Although the footage is rather short, it’s still a great snippet to see from the upcoming blockbuster. With so many other DC films being advertised in the same video, the footage plays exceptionally well, easily hyping fans up for what will be an exciting year of superheroes. It makes sense that this film happens to have the shortest glimpses as well, considering that it won’t be released until the end of this year.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is going to be directed by James Wan, director of the first Aquaman film, from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. He co-wrote the first Aquaman film alongside Will Beall and James Wan.
The film will once again star actor Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, Aquaman. The aforementioned Amber Heard will reprise her role as Mera. The cast also includes Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
Audiences can currently expect Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to be released late next year on December 16, 2022.
