The Disney Plus series Loki premiered last year, one of several which were set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While some of these shows were one-off projects, mostly intended to lead into other shows or films, it’s Loki that will be getting a direct second season. And now we have an update for one cast member that will be returning for the second season of Loki. As it turns out, none other than Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be returning for Loki when the next season begins shooting this year.
She revealed as much while speaking on Good Morning America, emphasizing how happy she is to play Renslayer again. The character played a decent-sized role in the first season of the Disney Plus series, so it’ll be great to have her character return.
Here’s what she had to say, noting that she couldn’t reveal much about the project:
“I know there is a Season Two,” Gugu Mbatha-Raw said regarding Loki. ” I know that I’m in it, and that’s about all I can say. I just love Renslayer. I’m so excited to explore her further and I’m so happy that people are really looking forward to the next season.”
Gugu Mbatha Raw’s character Renslayer was last seen after parting ways with the Time Variance Authority. The character was notably upset after she discovered that the Time Keepers weren’t who she thought they were, and it’s certainly a good setup to bring her character closer to the villainous side.
The first season of Loki is currently available to watch on the Disney Plus streaming service. With the second season of the series being prepped for production this year, it hopefully won’t be much longer after this year then before the second season is released. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the second season of Loki or other associated Disney Plus and Marvel projects as we have them.
