Later this year will see the release of the R-Rated extended cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and while details are scarce, outside of the fact it includes the Jena Malone scenes which were cut, we now have confirmation of the film’s runtime.
It was previously hinted that the films runtime would be around the three hour mark, but now thanks to a Swedish retailer we know that the film will be clocking in at an impressive 181 Minutes. As well as the previously mentioned Jena Malone storyline, the extended cut is also set to add more violence to the film including added blood to take it from it’s PG-13 rating to R-Rated.
Warner Brothers has already released one scene from the film, which saw Lex Luthor encountered an other-worldly being, rumored to be Steppenwolf, a lieutenant of Darkseid. The film’s director Zack Snyder has also revealed details of a second scene, which describes how Superman seemingly ignores other cries for help whilst searching for his mother.
There is currently no release date set for the home media release although the retailer does the reveal that it is expected to have around two hours worth of bonus features. If you can’t wait that long, you can still check out the non-extended edition in theaters for a little while longer.
