Disney and Lucasfilm announced some time ago that fans of the character, Ahsoka Tano, will be getting her own Disney Plus series starring Rosario Dawson as the lead. It looks like we have more news on the casting, and it appears that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the show. Though we don’t know what her role will be, this is still exciting news, nonetheless. Winstead has proven herself multiple times in the world of action and has even showcased her talent by being able to take on more dramatic roles.
Some of Winstead’s credits include projects such as Birds of Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and Season 3 of FX’s Fargo – where she played opposite of Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor.
The Ahsoka Tano series was announced in December and will feature Dawson as the lead. Dawson had been a popular fan cast choice to play the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano for some time and wishes were fulfilled when she showed up in Season 2 of Disney Plus’s The Mandalorian. The inclusion of the live-action character already has fans riled up for a show centering on Ahsoka after her introduction – and Disney obliged.
There has also been news that Natasha Liu Bordizzo would star as Sabine Wren—the live-action version of the character from Star Wars Rebels. Some sources have said that cast member Ivanna Sakhno would be playing a new Star Wars character in the Ahsoka series as well.
The series isn’t the only Star Wars-centric show currently in the works – as the long-awaited Obi-wan Kenobi show is still in production with McGregor set to return in the title role. It was previously reported that Hayden Christen is expected to appear as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
Executive Producer Dave Filoni will be handling the writing of Ahsoka, and Jon Favreau will also be handling executive producer duties alongside Filoni.
No word on the plot of the series – but you can expect another hit for Disney Plus.
