It was an especially exciting time to be a Marvel fan last year, as they released a variety of new shows on Disney Plus. It’s quickly become a great way to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe and further connect the growing film franchise. This new tradition will continue this year, with what appears to be at least four new Marvel shows hitting Disney Plus in Summer 2022. At least, that seems to be the case according to an official Marvel site.
As revealed by Marvel Studios Japan, via ComicBook, their site suggests that three shows could be released between Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 4 and Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8. Specifically, it shows She-Hulk, I Am Groot, and the second season of What If…? for release dates between that timespan.
The below infographic also shows the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel scheduled for sometime after Thor: Love and Thunder:
While some of these are to be expected, it’s especially surprising to see the second season of What If…? on the list. Specifically, because, this is the first indication that the series will premiere this year. Despite suggestions in the past that it would, it was unknown if such an ambitious animated series would receive a new season so quickly. But as it appears, it looks like we very well could expect to see it this year after all.
Finally, it appears that the Secret Invasion series could also be hitting Disney Plus this year – though not in the summer. Instead, it appears to be arriving before Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is set for November. In any case, there seems to be plenty of Marvel films and shows on the way both in theaters and on Disney Plus in 2022. So fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on all of these projects as we have them.
