One of the last great Arnold Schwarzenegger films of the 1990’s is none other than Eraser, a 1996 action film that was directed by Chuck Russell. While the film didn’t quite have the same franchise potential as certain other Schwarzenegger vehicles, like The Terminator, it appears that’s now changing. The film is being rebooted, albeit without Arnold Schwarzenegger, as the upcoming movie Eraser: Reborn. The new film will instead star actor Dominic Sherwood in the lead role. Now we know that Eraser: Reborn has also just received a brand new “R” rating from the MPAA.
As noted via FilmRatings.com, Eraser: Reborn received its “R” rating from the MPAA for the following reasons:
“Violence throughout and language.”
At least fans won’t have to worry about the film being softened for a PG-13 rating. On the other hand, not much else is known about the film so far. But it was shot in secret over the past summer, so we should likely have more details about the project in the near future. Especially considering the MPAA has already rated the movie, it should only be a matter of time before we have more official plot details or maybe even some promotional material.
It’s been further noted that the film is listed as a “Warner Bros. Home Entertainment” release. With that in mind, the movie will also likely be going straight-to-video.
Eraser: Reborn also stars Jacky Lai, McKinley Belcher III, and Eddie Ramos.
Here’s the basic setup…
“The film follows US Marshall Mason Pollard who specializes in engineering the fake deaths of witnesses that need to leave no trace of their existence.”
Although the specific release date for the film has yet to be released, it’s expected that Eraser: Reborn will be released sometime in Spring 2022. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for further updates on the Eraser reboot.
