The Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally reaching into the Multiverse, bringing us crossovers that we never thought were previously possible. We’re about to see even more such surprises with the upcoming MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As the title suggests, Doctor Strange will be exploring the Multiverse alongside several other beloved characters like Scarlet Witch. Now in the first official teaser trailer for Doctor Strange 2, there appear to be some references to Fox’s old X-Men and Fantastic Four film franchises.
Of course, there references are quite subtle. The key is to pay attention to the Marvel logo in the beginning of the teaser trailer. The logo in the Doctor Strange 2 teaser is broken apart in shards, and therein lies the references to the X-Men and Fantastic Four. For example, at one point the Marvel logo from X-Men: The Last Stand is clearly visible. At another point, the logo is taken from Fox’s 2005 Fantastic Four film. Eventually a multitude of these shards form the official Marvel logo.
Here’s the teaser trailer featuring the logo included below:
It’s unclear if the new film actually will include cameos from any X-Men or Fantastic Four characters. But after Spider-Man: No Way Home, anything is surely possible. Especially from a film that’s literally titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There are bound to be some surprising cameos one way or another. And considering that properties like Fantastic Four have been acquired by Disney and Marvel, with plans to reboot the franchise within the MCU, it makes even more sense that the new film could include the iconic superhero team somehow. We’ll likely just have to wait and see what happens, however, considering how much of the new film has been kept under wraps.
Audiences will be able to see the highly anticipated sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, when it hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
