We’re currently in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s clear that Disney and Marvel Studios are going in some different directions with the franchise. Aside from focusing on the film side of things, they’ve put much more focus onto television with their Disney Plus programming. It’s also become clear with projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that they want to focus much more on the Multiverse. And as fans have seen, particularly in the trailers for No Way Home, Marvel is also bringing back some very popular villains. And according to a new report, we could be seeing one popular MCU villain make a comeback albeit with a twist.
This is exciting news, because there are already quite a few Marvel villains with massive fanbases. But it’s the twist that’s perhaps the most exciting part. As it turns out, this popular villain will actually be making their return by teaming up with a superhero!
The report comes via insider KC Walsh of Geeks WorldWide, where he teased the following twist regarding a popular MCU villain on Twitter:
“Also heard a popular villain is returning to the MCU to be a ‘guide’ for a young hero”

Obviously, this isn’t much information to go on. Especially when you consider the vast library of villains out there. But the insider was able to cancel out several options by responding to his followers. A few of the options he ruled out included Ultron, Arnim Zola, and Justin Hammer. Of course, that still leads a variety of potential options out in the open.
For example, it’s been largely rumored that Kingpin will be making an appearance at some point during the Hawkeye series. It’s possible that he could make an alliance with a hero – although there are a few other more likely scenarios. Agatha Harkness teaming up with Wanda Maximoff is one such scenario, considering Agatha will be getting her very own series with Agatha: House of Harkness. On the other hand, a variant version of Killmonger from Black Panther could be another big choice.
With the Multiverse just waiting to break open, the possibilities for Marvel going forward are endless. As such, it’ll be exciting to see just what villain they choose to bring back as this “guide” – and what other villains could also be making comebacks as a result.
