The Halloween franchise returned to theaters this year when Halloween Kills premiered in October. Although the new sequel was somewhat divisive between fans, it marked a momentous turn for the franchise, pushing things forward for next year’s Halloween Ends. And as it turns out, the film at one point had even more thrills and kills in its runtime. These will now be restored for the upcoming home video release of the film, entitled the Halloween Kills: Extended Cut.
As noted via Bloody-Disgusting, the Halloween Kills: Extended Cut will first be released next month on December 14. Here’s what else will be included with the upcoming digital release:
According to iTunes, HALLOWEEN KILLS will have, in addition to an extended cut, several featurettes, deleted scenes, and two audio commentaries — one by David Gordon Green, and one by Jamie Lee Curtis & Judy Greer. Great news. Hopefully on the Blu/UHD too.

This is especially exciting for fans that can’t wait to have more Michael Myers in their lives. While the theatrical release of the film still featured plenty of carnage, it’ll be interesting to see what this extended cut of the movie will contain. It’ll also be exciting to dive into the alternate ending of the film. Although the alternate ending doesn’t quite flow into the next film of the franchise, which is why it was removed, it does make a nice little reference to the original film if the scene is the same as what David Gordon Green previously teased.
The digital release of the film also features several other special features, including a variety of featurettes and even two audio commentaries. So for fans that enjoy their special features, this should already have you covered ahead of the physical home video release.
Meanwhile, if fans are still eager for more Halloween content beyond the Halloween Kills: Extended Cut, there’s still the aforementioned Halloween Ends coming next year.
David Gordon Green will once again return to direct Halloween Ends, the sequel to its predecessors Halloween and Halloween Kills.
Fans will be able to see Halloween Ends next year on October 14, 2022.
