When it comes to modern social media, the biggest app in the world is TikTok, hands down. With the ability to reach billions of users in 15 to 90 second videos as well as the opportunity to ‘Go Live’ and interact with your followers, it has become the go to platform for influencers and newbies alike. People are gaining a following at a far more rapid rate than any other app. So much so that it has become a big time marketing tool for large companies. Case in point, Sony Pictures has created a new TikTok account for The Daily Bugle to help promote Spider-Man: No Way Home and you can be a part of the fun!
The Daily Bugle TikTok is being run by their newest (unpaid) intern, Betty Brant! Actress Angourie Rice is reprising the role from the previous two Spidey films, this time out of high school and onto the real world with her first gig in the news world! And she is offering some extra intern spots to all of us! If you click on the link in their bio, you can download the Daily Bugle background and then green screen yourself in as an intern. There, they want you to share any Spider-Man ‘sightings’ as well as your favorite Web Head Conspiracy Stories (i.e. the crazy fan theories that run rampant all over the app).
This is a fun, new, interactive marketing campaign that will keep the already insane hype surrounding this movie at a fever pitch. And it also makes sense to do something like this for Sony. They have barely promoted the film that comes out in less than a month. Until now we only had teaser before the unprecedented red carpet event for a full trailer premiere. But now, as we are just three weeks away from its release, some interesting TV spots and this new TikTok account are getting fans to the finish line.

@thedailybugleofficialTell us you hate Spider-Man without telling us… (even if you don’t actually hate him). ♬ SpiderMan No Way Home in theaters December 17 – The Daily Bugle
Who knows what the future holds for Spider-Man after the events of this film. But, if his journey does continue, or the Daily Bugle becomes an even bigger part of the great Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters, it might be a good idea to follow this account and keep an eye on whatever videos The Daily Bugle posts from here on out.
