In 2016, the Ghostbusters film franchise was revived several years before Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Unlike the more recent film, however, the 2016 movie acted strictly as a remake. Paul Feig directed this film, and while fans have been quite divisive over it, both Paul Feig and Ghostbusters: Afterlife director Jason Reitman have been supportive of one another. In fact, Paul Feig has finally revealed his thoughts on Ghostbusters: Afterlife via social media – where he called the film “brilliant.”
In fact, Paul Feig even enthusiastically congratulated director Jason Reitman, as well as the film’s cast and crew. While his attempt to remake Ghostbusters in 2016 didn’t quite work out, it looks like it paved a successful path for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
As stated by Paul Feig on Twitter:
“Huge congrats to @JasonReitman and the whole #GhostbustersAfterlife cast and crew on this amazing opening weekend. The film is brilliant. So exciting to have a whole new generation bustin’! Here’s to many more ecto adventures! #weareallghostbusters”

Jason Reitman even gave a response, thanking Paul Feig for this thoughts.
“You are a class act, a great friend, and a brilliant director. My heart is filled with gratitude for @paulfeig, the brilliant ATC cast and crew. Thank you for expanding the GB universe and giving me the courage to attempt a movie. #weareallghostbusters”

Jason Reitman has praised Paul Feig’s work on the franchise in the past, insisting that it helped expand the Ghostbusters franchise. Before his 2016 remake, there was only ever the original film and its original sequel. And with those two movies defining the brand for decades, it seemed almost impossible to do anything else. But times have changed, and Ghostbusters is back on the big screen yet again. This time, however, it looks like Ghostbusters: Afterlife will more than likely be the starting point for a whole new Ghostbusters film series.
