Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings is now streaming on Disney Plus, and in IMAX Enhanced, giving people at home a fuller, clearer picture of the film. The movie is garnering love both from people who saw the movie in theaters as well as a whole new group of fans who weren’t quite ready to go back out to the movies yet. It wonderfully introduces a new hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as brings back a few fan favorites to the mix. One of the most surprising cameos came in the form of The Abomination, last seen at the end of 2008’s Incredible Hulk. Fans have wondered what the fate of the villain was after all of this time. Thanks to this movie, we see that he is still in captivity of sorts, but has seemingly evolved. But, was his inclusion also a possible Easter Egg for the upcoming She-Hulk series?
A Reddit user has postulated that when Wong opens a portal to return himself and Abomination to his ‘prison’, that it looks an awful lot like the same place that we see the Hulk helping out his cousin, She-Hulk, in her first trailer. It could be that Emil Blonksy’s evolution here into a more comic accurate looking Abomination is due to Smart Hulk trying to cure him or at least help him balance himself better in this form.
Further gamma experiments to help Blonksy take more control of his emotions and ego could have lead to his new look, after all, and that these fight pit trips with Wong are a way to not only let off steam, but make a few bucks in the process. We do know that Wong is working closely with Banner, thanks to the post credits scene, so is this the same place?
In Shang Chi where Wong took the Abomination after the fight, could be this facility which we see in the new She Hulk clip!

Not likely. Thanks to the clarity of the IMAX Enhanced viewing, we can see that Blonky’s cell that Wong is transporting him back to is much different and in a much different place than the lab we see in She-Hulk. For one, it is a round, free standing cell with red lights down the seams in what looks to be a large warehouse-like structure. In She-Hulk, is a cube shaped container that Jennifer Walters is standing in, and it looks more like a lab. It looks like Wong is talking Blonksy back to The Raft, the SuperMAX prison that General Ross runs. And, Ross could be experimenting on Blonksy which would result in his transformation. The only saving grace to this theory, really, is Wong.
It doesn’t seem like something Ross would allow, letting Wong take Abomination to a fighting pit just to earn some cash. And Wong makes it clear that they have some sort of arrangement here, as if Wong is helping him ‘be better’. It doesn’t seem like something Ross would do, get help from a sorcerer to rehabilitate a prisoner that he deems as a weapon of mass destruction.
Whatever is the case, we do know that Abomination is returning in She-Hulk, so he is in a way an indirect Easter Egg to the series. Let’s see what happens there and what will come of Blonksy in the future of the MCU!
