We’re about to get our first look at Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” on May 6. Just a few weeks later, production starts on his first solo film, which we now know will be titled “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Unfortunately, cameras will have to roll without the most talented actor rumored to be a part of the cast. Last week, we told you Michael Keaton was in talks to play the film’s main villain. However, Deadline reported today that Keaton had “fallen out of early talks, and won’t be a part of the project.”
This is certainly disappointing, given that the erstwhile Batman star has turned in multiple Oscar-worthy performances in the last few years. Indeed, his potential involvement was enough to make this particular writer (who is not a Spidey fan by any stretch of the imagination) excited to see the movie in theaters. It has now promptly returned to a home-video-at-some-point title, in my personal estimation.
Are you let down by this information? And who do you think would make a great potential replacement, or other addition to the cast? Let us know in the comments!
