On the same day that the Halo: Infinite multiplayer became available for download, the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Paramount Plus Halo TV series has also been released – and though it’s not much in terms of length – it’s definitely enough to get fans excited.
We get a glimpse of Master Chief (well, the back of him) who is played by Pablo Schreiber in this live-action adaptation. It’ll be the first live-action adaptation that we’ve received, after years and years of trying to bring it to the big (and small) screen failed.
You can view the teaser trailer below:
Not much is known about the plot of the series, other than dramatizes an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant – something fans of the video games are definitely familiar with.
David Nevins, Chief Creative Officer, CBS & Chairman and CEO, Showtime Networks spoke about the series, saying:
“It delivers the visceral excitement of playing the game, along with a much deeper emotional experience around the Spartans, human beings who got their humanity chemically and genetically altered. The story is about reclaiming what makes them human, and therefore it’s a very powerful story.”
At one point Nevins has been quoted as saying:
“Halo is our most ambitious series ever, and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded.”
Halo’s transmedia boss, Kiki Wolfkill, has spoken about the steps that Microsoft has been taking with the Halo TV series:
“In a first-person shooter, there is only so much of a character journey because of that wanting to maintain some of that character for people to pour into him or her. So TV gives us a long form ability to really focus on character and story in a way that’s harder to relay in a first-person game.”
The show is said to be similar to Game of Thrones in term of the scope and scale of it. Here’s hoping the series delivers on its high expectations.
Halo is set to premiere on Paramount Plus sometime in 2022.
