The next theatrical feature film in the Predator franchise – Predator: Badlands – is scheduled to hit theaters in just a few months, and now the first official teaser trailer has been released. Prey director Dan Trachtenberg returned to helm this installment which looks unlike any Predator movie to date.
The Predator franchise has always had a massive mythos fleshed out through books, comics, and video games. However, the feature films often backed away from portraying anything too far beyond the scope of the original two movies. Now Predator: Badlands appears to be changing the game.
The trailer for the new film confirms a setting in the future, on what appears to be an alien planet, and with a titular “Predator” as the film’s protagonist. If that wasn’t enough, one of Elle Fanning’s characters has been revealed, and it looks like she’ll be portraying a surprising connection to the Alien film franchise.
Here’s the first official teaser trailer for Predator: Badlands:

Many plot details are being kept under wraps at this time, but a synopsis has been shared as follows:
“‘Predator: Badlands,’ which stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.”
With Prey having rejuvenated the Predator franchise and Alien: Romulus the Alien franchise, it looks like 20th Century Studios is eager to tie both properties back together. The reference to Weyland-Yutani in the Predator: Badlands trailer could be the first step to delivering a new Alien vs. Predator movie. Only time will tell.
Predator: Badlands is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on November 7, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated project as we have them. For now, it looks like the new film is teasing some bold new directions not only for the Predator franchise – but the Alien franchise as well.
