The Marvel Cinematic Universe has once again been flourishing with numerous films, television shows, and other projects being released on a frequent basis. However, some projects have been more difficult to get off the ground than others. In fact, a new report claims that Marvel Studios made the decision to cancel an upcoming MCU movie.

The following report should be taken with a grain of salt. However, knowing how complicated the situation with this particular MCU movie has become, it’s not exactly a stretch to believe what they’ve shared.

With numerous delays and creative changes that have plagued the production from the start, it’s clear that the movie has faced some significant hurdles behind the scenes. While it is good to always approach such rumors cautiously, the inconsistencies and conflicts that have been reported from various sources make it difficult to ignore the possibility that there might be some truth to what has been reported.

The rumor from insider yronlyhope states:

“I heard some Blade news I trust. File under rumor for now if you want/take it with a grain of salt. I’m ok with that.”

The insider continued to share their Blade rumor in a thread. One of the most recent rumors revolving around the project is that Chad Stahelski was wanted by the studio to direct their Blade reboot. However, the insider claims that this part of what’s being rumored around Hollywood is incorrect.

This rumor does line up with what we know about Blade, its complicated pre-production timeline, and how Marvel Studios has removed the project from their release schedule.

While there is no confirmation one way or the other at this time, the insider adds that the project is being shelved. While a Blade movie could still come to fruition at some point, and the insider emphasizes that Mahershala Ali is still attached to the role, it looks like Marvel might be taking a break from developing the long-awaited reboot.

The insider adds that Blade could still make a MCU appearance in a potential Midnight Suns movie or Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Midnight Suns seems like a more likely debut for the character, especially knowing how jam-packed Secret Wars will be.

Only time will tell what will happen with the project or its titular character. As always, stay tuned to ScreenGeek and we’ll share more concrete information as we have it.
