The film Deadpool & Wolverine successfully brought Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After its major success at the box office and with fans, however, the film – and more specifically, star Ryan Reynolds – are facing backlash for a line said by the Deadpool actor’s daughter.
Inez Reynolds, the daughter of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, played Kidpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. One of her lines in the film, however, sparked controversy from viewers. The controversy recently got worse when director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds further discussed the line and how Inez initially didn’t want to say it.
Inez, who was only 7-years-old, was revealed by director Shawn Levy to have said the line “70 to 500 times” on set. The outlet revealed that, according to Reynolds, Inez originally didn’t want to say the line. She only changed her mind when Reynolds started to consider other actors for the part of Kidpool.
This specific line was heard in the film as follows:
“Hey, when I want your opinion I’ll take Wolverine’s d*** out of your mouth.”
Reynolds, who joked that he’d get “the best father of the year award” for his work with Inez, admitted that he coached her on the script. “Guiltily,” Reynolds stated, “that is my daughter Inez,” when watching the clip with Levy.
“I’m so sorry we have to admit that,” Levy added when they first started viewing the footage.
“And I am father of the year over here for allowing her to say such language, which to her credit she really didn’t want to say,” Reynolds followed up.
“And then [she] came back later and said ‘I want to say it now’ when I started looking at other people to play.”
Levy continued:
“Yeah but Ryan, to our discredit, we made Nezzy do, I am not s****** you, 70 to 500 versions of that line.”
“Yeah, I’m going to pay for that later,” Reynolds concluded.
This is sexually vulgar language Ryan Reynolds FORCED his 7 year old daughter to say in Deadpool against her will. The same movie they mocked and killed Justin Baldoni in. What the hell is wrong with @DisneyStudios and @MarvelStudios? How could you allow this to happen to a… pic.twitter.com/SahRTajxpn

Social media users shared some of the following responses regarding Ryan Reynolds and his decision to have his 7-year-old daughter say the controversial line in Deadpool & Wolverine:
They couldn’t just dubb it over later?? You can’t see her face, why make her say it
— Mary Loo (@windyllamas) March 24, 2025
And she had a mask on, so they could have just gotten someone else to say it

Unless their big announcement is an apology for bullying Justin Baldoni through Nice Pool, and the gross, sexual vulgarity they manipulated 7yr old Inez Reynolds into staying as Kid Pool a lot of people don’t give AF what they have to say

I never liked Ryan Reynolds, and this just adds to it. Making your daughter say something she’s uncomfortable with is predatory. She only agreed after he threatened to get another actor. The more I hear about Hollywood, the more I hate it.

Some came to Reynolds’ defense, saying:
Grasping at straws. Outrageous click bait by a someone in need of 30 seconds of fame.

I have never watched the movie or have any sides in this as i have no idea about it. But to make this a big deal is crazy, your beef is with the studios , they have been doing this stuff since the 80’s its called acting.

Yall kinda pathetic tbh. Who gives a shit what an actor and his daughter did? He even said that he looked for others and SHE SAID she wanted to do it, but let’s focus more on naughty words fkn snowflakes

This is only the latest example of controversy to follow actor Ryan Reynolds, having been involved alongside his wife Blake Lively in a legal debacle with Justin Baldoni. As such, we’ll have to see what developments come next.
