Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, who once appeared as the villain in 2012’s The Avengers more than a decade ago, is set to return for Avengers: Doomsday. Hiddleston, whose MCU credits also include Thor, Avengers: Infinity War, and the Disney Plus series Loki among others, has become a fan-favorite and as such this is exciting news for fans.
The latest entry in the Avengers saga will have the hefty task of following the Multiverse shenanigans that have been taking place over the last few years. Now that Marvel Studios has announced the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, we know that a number of major stars are set to appear, including several original X-Men cast members and the entirety of the new Fantastic Four team.
Of course, Loki has played one of the biggest roles in the ongoing Multiverse arcs that have been happening around the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, it’s quite appropriate that he’ll have a role to play in the new Avengers crossover event. Additionally, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor – otherwise known as Loki’s brother – will also have a part to play.
It looks like we’ll have plenty of interesting updates for their characters in addition to seeing how they interact with all of the newcomers around them. With the Multiverse at hand, however, their reactions and battles will be some of the most important pieces yet to the MCU. Especially with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom as the newest villain.
Loki has certainly come a long way since his debut in Thor. After starting off as a villain, he gradually become an antihero, having more recently served as the lead of his own Disney Plus series. With two seasons of that show under the MCU’s belt, it serves as a nice transition for Loki’s appearance in Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday with Tom Hiddleston as Loki is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel Cinematic Universe updates as we have them. Hopefully more details will be shared in the near future, especially now that the film’s cast has been announced and production is currently ongoing.
