The Marvel Cinematic Universe once again has Daredevil fighting crime in New York City. However, with Charlie Cox’s grand return as the character in Daredevil: Born Again, a few other familiar faces made their way through. One such example in Daredevil: Born Again includes a subtle cameo from a recurring MCU star.
At this point, we’re only two episodes into the Disney Plus series as part of its premiere. Of course, a lot happens in these two episodes, and that includes the return of so many beloved characters. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson all appear.
However, it might be surprising to note that it’s the victory of the aforementioned Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk, as the new Mayor of New York City that gives us this subtle cameo. It’s something that might’ve been unnoticed by most fans, but others were quick to pick up on the latest appearance of this actor and character who has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than a decade.
Real-life news anchor Pat Kiernan appeared as himself in Daredevil: Born Again for the cameo in which he announces Wilson Fisk as New York City’s 112th mayor. Kiernan, who is an anchor for Spectrum News NY1, has appeared in numerous Marvel projects over the years. This includes The Avengers which was his first appearance.
Other roles for Kiernan in the MCU include the previous Daredevil series, The Defenders, The Punisher, and Doctor Strange. He also appeared in Hawkeye, Echo, and the two Spider-Man: Homecoming sequels Far From Home and No Way Home. As such, it’s a nice connective cameo to have Kiernan also appear in Daredevil: Born Again.
Of course, we’ll have to see in the next episodes of the season to uncover what other cameos might be headed our way. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Daredevil: Born Again news and other MCU updates as we have them.
