The Marvel Cinematic Universe was further expanded with the release of Captain America: Brave New World. The new release not only gives audiences more of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson as Captain America, but we have ties to other MCU projects including The Incredible Hulk. As it turns out, however, a major Marvel cameo was actually cut from Captain America: Brave New World during the film’s journey to the big screen.
The inclusion of this character was previously reported prior to the film’s release. Only with the film now playing in theaters, however, do we get the confirmation that they are no longer part of the project. One Reddit user, in a post that has since been deleted, discussed a scene that was present in a test screening for the film until being deleted for the theatrical release.
The outlet ComicBook.com goes over the scene discussed by the user, and how it would have played out if the original cameo was included. As it turns out, the major Marvel character comes straight from the comics and it would have also tied into Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The Age of Ultron character, Helen Cho, offered the Regeneration Cradle that was used to construct Vision’s body in the film. For those familiar with the comics, they know that Helen Cho eventually has a kid named Amadeus Cho. It’s this very child that fans almost got introduced to in Captain America: Brave New World. According to the original Reddit post, Amadeus appeared in a scene that has since been deleted from the Captain America follow-up.
Though rather quick, it would have featured Amadeus as a Stark engineer and one that would have helped Captain America, Falcon, and Ruth Bat-Seraph. The 16-year-old character, as depicted in the comics, eventually becomes the “Totally Awesome Hulk.” Due to his exclusion from Captain America: Brave New World, however, it’s unknown if this character will ever get their due in the MCU.
According to past reports, Logan Kim allegedly played Amadeus Cho in the excised scenes from the film. Kim previously played the character “Podcast” in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. With those films under his belt, one can begin to imagine how he might’ve performed as Amadeus Cho in the MCU.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional MCU updates as we have them. As for now, Captain America: Brave New World is currently playing in theaters, albeit without the Amadeus Cho cameo.
