The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, is finally hitting theaters. However, some viewers have been disappointed by the release of the film, with some outright upset by the movie. Now a new report details the alleged trouble behind the scenes with Captain America: Brave New World.
The report was shared in a new report in which a technical crew member who was involved with the production of Brave New World spoke out. The crew member stated that the rest of the crew “knew this is probably not going to be a good film” when they began dealing with reshoots and several other “frustrations” as a result.
The alleged Captain America: Brave New World trouble was further explained by the anonymous crew member to Vulture:
“Some of the action sequences were not believable. We had a lot of frustrations on set,” the source said. “After principal photography was finished, it was like, ‘Oh, we’re going to introduce the leader of the Serpent Society.’ It was on, then it was off, then it was on again. That’s very expensive to do. My co-workers who spent more time on Brave New World than I did said, ‘Yeah, this has been a really rough production.'”
Additionally, the crew member insists that they struggled to work with actor Harrison Ford who takes over as Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in the new movie and becomes the Red Hulk. While the crew member is a fan of Ford, he claims that he was “one of the crankiest performers I ever dealt with,” and that it created an “awkward” environment.
The crew member called Ford “very much a diva,” and that the motion-capture process for the actor was difficult. As such, he feels as though the actor made it difficult on everyone else as a result.
“I don’t know if you remember, but he got in a plane crash. He couldn’t even raise his left arm above his chest. We have to suit up 80-something Harrison Ford in these motion-capture dots. To me, it seemed like he hated it and didn’t want to do it. And when Harrison was done, he was done. Everyone was trying to scramble to make him happy. That made for a very awkward work environment.”
Ultimately, while there are some upset viewers, it seems as though audiences have responded better to the film so far than critics. In any case, we’ll have to see how Captain America: Brave New World continues to perform now that it’s been released in theaters.
