The Alien film franchise has spawned several sequels, prequels, and midquels since the first Alien hit theaters in 1979. Now, in 2025, the franchise will officially take the leap to the small screen with the first-ever Alien TV series. Now the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited Alien TV series, titled Alien: Earth, has been released.
Interestingly, this new series will tackle a separate storyline than what was depicted in last year’s Alien: Romulus. It’s clear that this new iteration of the beloved sci-fi horror franchise is meant to open up all new avenues for the franchise’s iconic Xenomorph to terrorize. On that note, we’ll be seeing a new era of Earth and what Xenomorphs will be like on our home planet for the first time outside of the AVP films.
In fact, like other Alien movies released since AVP, this series will exclude those two entries and focus on the canon established in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Of course, how this particular storyline ties into those films from original Alien director Ridley Scott is yet to be seen.
Here’s the new official teaser trailer for Alien: Earth:
Noah Hawley created Alien: Earth which stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lather, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille, and Adrian Edmondson. The series has been in development since at least 2019 before being officially announced in 2020, so fans are certainly eager to see what the cast and crew have cooked up during this time.
Alien: Earth is scheduled to be released on FX and Hulu this summer. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Alien: Earth and any other related projects from the franchise as we have them. It’s nice to finally have our first real look at the long-awaited Alien series, and with its release date scheduled for this year, we’ll have other glimpses soon to come.
