The world of Marvel is an interesting one. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been at the top of its game for years now, with only a handful of flops to speak of. Nonetheless, that still leaves room for a few box office failures, and one Marvel movie is now dominating the streaming landscape after it bombed at the box office as well.
Streaming has certainly made for a new way to allow movies that failed in theaters to have a second life. While some moviegoers might not go out of their way to see a critically divisive movie in theaters, they may still take the time to see it at home. This shift in viewing habits has given many films the opportunity to be reassessed and appreciated in a more relaxed setting, free from the pressures of theatrical competition.
While some moviegoers may have skipped it during its theatrical run, whether due to mixed reviews, franchise fatigue, or other factors, the streaming platform has allowed it to reach a broader audience. This dynamic seems to be playing out with a Marvel movie that has climbed to the number one spot on Apple TV Plus.

It seems as though the Marvel movie Kraven the Hunter, set in Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off universe, is doing spectacular numbers on Apple’s streaming platform. This may be surprising, as the film’s box office failure along with Madame Web were enough for Sony to seemingly close the curtains on its shared universe.
While the movie isn’t exactly set in the MCU, it is still Marvel-adjacent, and enough movies now have proven that they all exist in the same Multiverse. It’s unfortunate that Sony’s side of the Multiverse, however, have been mixed-to-negative regarding box office and critical success. They’re no doubt grateful, then, to have Apple TV Plus help find some success with Kraven the Hunter. The film grossed only $60.9 million at the worldwide box office with a $110-130 million budget.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel news as we have it, including any other movies that might make a comeback on streaming. As for now, fans can find Kraven the Hunter streaming on Apple TV Plus, where they can see for themselves whether or not it deserved to flop at the box office.
