Captain America: Brave New World is set to not only expand the Captain America series but the MCU as a whole. Nonetheless, some expansions weren’t meant to happen, as it’s been revealed that a major Marvel character has been cut from Captain America: Brave New World.
While the character was originally featured in Brave New World, it’s since been revealed that he will no longer appear due to reshoots.
This was confirmed by the actor that was expected to portray this Marvel character in the new Captain America sequel before being cut from the story.
Here’s what the actor, none other than former WWE champion Seth Rollins, had to share while speaking on the podcast Insight with Chris Van Vliet:
“I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film,” Rollins first had to share about no longer being involved with Brave New World.
“Does my NDA still apply if I’m not in the film anymore? Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased,” Rollins explained. “So I did do a bit of an audition to possibly pop into another role, I believe, or the repurposing of my role, I’m not exactly sure on what it was, but they ended up going in a different direction with it.”
He further explained the behind-the-scenes processes and how they left him without a part in the film as a result:
“My understanding was there were just a lot of rewrites and a lot of reshoots, and they know they’ve got a finished product that hopefully they’re happy with, and hopefully it’s successful, but it will be sans Seth Rollins.”
His part, which Rollins himself has not revealed, has been speculated to have been the character Cobra, otherwise known as King Cobra, from Marvel Comics. Rollins was pictured in an outfit similar to that worn by Cobra in the comics by the Paparazzi while working on Brave New World. While some fans would have certainly loved to have seen Rollins in the film, especially if he were playing Cobra, Rollins insists that he will not be in the movie:
“I’m not in the movie. I will say unequivocally I’m not in the film,” Rollins added. “I do not want anybody to go to the film thinking, ‘I’m here to see Seth Rollins.’ There might be two people that would do that, but I don’t want those two people to waste their time. I don’t want to misinform anybody. I don’t want to lead anybody astray. I am not in the film.”

Though Seth Rollins was unable to keep his part in Captain America: Brave New World, one can hope that he and his character can still appear in another project for the future. For now, however, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about seeing Rollins in this particular installment.
