Actor Mel Gibson is now one of countless individuals who have been impacted by the LA wildfires. The actor and director was in the middle of speaking on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience when he learned that his house was burned down. Mel Gibson noted that the news regarding his house was “devastating.”

As shared by the “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” via NewsNation, Mel Gibson’s “Malibu home has been destroyed by the wildfires raging in the Los Angeles area.” Gibson confirmed that the fire which destroyed his home also destroyed all of his possessions.

“It’s emotional,” Gibson said regarding the event. “I had my stuff there. I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.”

According to Vargas, the Passion of the Christ director noted that he was “ill at ease” while appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience because he already knew his neighborhood was being hit by the wildfires. As such, he was constantly wondering if his house had been touched by the flames.

“I thought, ‘Eh, I wonder if my place is still there,” according to Gibson. “When I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there.”

He further emphasized the damage that took place:

“(The area) was completely toasted. I’ve never seen such a complete burn.”

It’s certainly an awful situation, and one that Gibson is not alone in. Many residents of the Los Angeles area have similarly watched their homes and possessions burn away. This includes numerous other celebrities, such as Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Cary Elwes.
