Disney Plus has become an interesting streaming service in just the few years it’s been around. In addition to offering its own selection of classic Disney films and shows, they’ve been able to expand a number of brands including their own. Now it’s been revealed that Disney Plus will be bringing back a classic television series with several original cast members.
What’s perhaps most exciting about this announcement is that these cast members are, in fact, returning. It’s been eighteen years since this particular series concluded, and they have stepped away quite far from their beloved roles.
It looks like the impossible is happening, however, as they’ve been confirmed to come back. As shared by Variety:
“A ‘Malcom in the Middle‘ revival has been ordered at Disney+.”
The series will bring viewers back to the sitcom world depicted from 2000 to 2006 with 151 episodes. For the revival, however, they have a new story planned to be told within four new episodes. As mentioned, several original cast members are set to reprise their roles:
“The new iteration of the series hails from original series creator Linwood Boomer, with original stars Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek set to reprise their roles.”
A release date for the Malcom in the Middle revival has yet to be confirmed, but fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on this project. Especially with Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek involved. Muniz played the titular Malcom while Cranston and Kaczmarek played his parents, Hal and Lois, respectively. Here’s the official logline which explains their roles in the new revival:
“Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
It’s unknown what other cast members might be returning for the series. However, fans can see Muniz, Cranston, and Kaczmarek announce their involvement in an exciting new social media video:
