The horror genre is always popular, and so Disney Plus subscribers will be happy to know their service also offers a variety of horror movies. One such horror movie is actually dominating the streaming platform, making this R-rated hit a continued success following its theatrical run.
This horror film actually hit theaters earlier this year, having become a huge hit while doing so, and now fans are continuing to give the film their attention. It has actually become the number 4 film on Disney Plus globally. This puts it above a surprising number of films on their Top 10 category, including holiday classics like Home Alone and the MCU blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.
Subscribers likely wouldn’t expect a horror movie to beat out such films, especially at a time when the holidays are on everyone’s minds. However, it looks like the hype for this R-rated 2024 horror movie has only continued to grow. Now subscribers are flocking to watch the film on Disney Plus.
The film, titled Alien: Romulus, is the latest installment in the Alien film franchise. What’s interesting about this particular installment, however, is that it’s set between the events of Alien and Aliens. This places the story at a point in time where Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley is still in cryosleep but the overall setting is similar enough to the original Alien.
Therefore it’s a great way to return the franchise to its roots, and not only that, but set up nods that either pave the way for the story of Aliens or tie things back with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Ultimately, it looks like Disney has some very exciting plans for the Alien film franchise, and Alien: Romulus is just the tip of the iceberg.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more Disney Plus news and any updates regarding the Alien film franchise as we have them. As for now, the sci-fi horror movie Alien: Romulus is currently available to stream on Disney Plus.
