Rachel Zegler recently made several controversial statements regarding Donald Trump and his supporters, including those who voted for him and thus causing his recent re-election. Now, however, Rachel Zegler is apologizing for her comments made regarding Donald Trump.
As noted via Variety, she issued the apology on Instagram, and explained that she “let my emotions get the best of me.” According to Zegler, the results of the election drove her to “contribute to the negative discourse.”
Here’s what the star of the upcoming Snow White movie had to share in her full statement on the social media platform:
“Hi everyone, I would like to sincerely apologize for the election post I shared on my Instagram last week. I let my emotions get the best of me,” she began. “Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse.”
She added the following:
“This week has been emotional for so many of us, but I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their opinion, even when it differs from my own. I am committed to contributing positively toward a better tomorrow.”
At a time when celebrities have been fired for making political comments or similar statements, there was plenty of backlash toward Zegler for what she had to say, and many demanded that Disney fire her from the upcoming Snow White film.
However, as of now, Snow White is still moving ahead with Zegler firmly attached. It’s unknown if there will be any consequences for her statements, but in the meantime, Zegler’s apology has been the latest update on that front. We’ll have to see if she has anything else to share in the near future.
