    ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6’ To Include Franchise’s First Non-Binary Operator

    The next installment in the Call of Duty video game franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is set to debut a first for the major property: the franchise’s first non-binary operator. The new character, named Volta Rossi, is revealed to use “they/them” pronouns.

    This announcement regarding the addition of this operator in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was shared by Activision just a week ahead of the game’s release. Naturally, some fans are having mixed-to-negative reactions to the announcement, but others are quite happy to see an operator added to the roster that uses proper pronouns.

    Previously, the Call of Duty franchise included characters like Agent Bell in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which gave fans the chance to choose their own gender. As such, some LGBTQ fans took the opportunity to create a non-binary character. Otherwise, however, Volta Rossi appears to be the franchise’s first playable operator that is solely non-binary with “they/them” pronouns.

    This information, shared via @DETONATEDcom on the social media platform X, included the following description of the character which notably uses the aforementioned pronouns:

    ““A street-smart rogue with a blue-blood pedigree, Volta Rossi is an enigma who left the comfort of the aristocracy to forge a new name as a HUMINT specialist. Their ties to the Luttazzi family give them unique insight into Avalon.”

    It’s an interesting addition to what will be a major title for the Call of Duty brand. The success of Black Ops 6, and the inclusion of non-binary operator Volta Rossi, could mean more such inclusive characters in future Call of Duty releases.
