Many movies inspired by the library owned by Marvel Comics have been widely successful, especially in recent years, with the support of fans having turned the Marvel Cinematic Universe into one of the most successful franchises in history. Nonetheless, some films have received mixed or otherwise negative reactions from fans, and now it’s one of the former Marvel examples that’s currently making a comeback on Netflix.
This particular film has received mixed reactions from fans ever since it was released in 2021. While the mixed reactions still lean towards positive, it’s always great to see the film perform well even several years after its initial release. Especially as it proves that this particular installment in its similarly received franchise still holds up.
This Marvel movie is actually climbing the charts to the Top 10 category on Netflix. Currently, it’s holding the #10 spot in the category. While this isn’t exactly one of the highest spots on the chart, it goes to show that viewers are still more than happy to revisit this interesting addition to Marvel canon.
What’s so interesting about this film’s place in the canon, however, is that it ties together both Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the more successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage, is a sequel to 2018’s Venom that also leads into Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now the connections between the two continues are still confusing to this day, but it still paved the way for a humorous cameo with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock during a post-credits scene for No Way Home.
Additionally, the film is currently set to be followed with another sequel titled Venom: The Last Dance later this month. Thus it makes sense that fans might want to revisit Venom: Let There Be Carnage while it’s available on Netflix to warm up for the newest entry. The Venom films have certainly received mixed reactions from fans, especially those hoping to see more direct connections with Spider-Man, but they have done quite well otherwise. Especially when compared to Sony’s other efforts like Morbius and Madame Web.
Ultimately, we’ll have to see how fans continue to feel about the Venom series after Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters. In the meantime, however, it looks like Venom: Let There Be Carnage is still popular enough several years after its release to continue bringing fans back for more.
Venom: The Last Dance is scheduled to hit theaters on October 25, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Venom, Marvel, and Netflix news as we have it.
