Tobin Bell has appeared in nine of the ten Saw films to date, and luckily for fans of the popular horror franchise, it looks he’ll be appearing in Saw XI as well. This will mark his tenth appearance as the iconic villain John Kramer – otherwise known as Jigsaw.
Saw X saw Tobin Bell come to the forefront as his iconic character as the story took place between Saw and Saw II. This allows the film to focus on John Kramer before his death in Saw III, and furthermore, ties together his role with accomplices like Amanda Young and Mark Hoffman.
It’s unknown if Saw XI will directly follow these events, though while speaking with LA Times, Tobin Bell does confirm there’s more to learn about his character:
“Each film is a different story and John’s in a different place. Same guy but different circumstances. … By the time I get to actually rolling the camera I’m up to 128 answers. You never know everything, but hopefully I know enough so I don’t go mad trying to play someone I don’t know at all,” he begins.
Bell continues to discuss the perspective of his character:
“John feels that the world has been taken over by mediocre people. He believes we all have to deal with the consequences of what we create. And that these people are not appreciative of what they have.“
Finally, however, he teases that the eleventh film will continue to elevate the standards set by Saw X and introduce new information about John Kramer:
“It’s all in the writing. … I’m really excited about continuing to develop him. John Kramer is not done. There’s more to learn.“
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Saw XI updates as we have them. For now, it’s exciting to know that Tobin Bell will once again reprise his role as Jigsaw for another Saw entry, so hopefully we’ll know more about Saw XI and his role in the sequel soon.
