The Marvel Cinematic Universe has spread across multiple mediums, most notably film and television, and now it looks like the first MCU video game could be in the works. A number of video games under the Marvel banner already exist, but this would be the first to be considered canon in the MCU that started with the feature film Iron Man.
However, if this game is in the works, then it is said to be in the early stages. As shared via insider @MyTimeToShineH, this means that there aren’t too many details to learn at this time. Nonetheless, it’s an exciting prospect for fans of the MCU that want to experience the franchise’s massive world on a more personal level.
As mentioned, there are already a number of Marvel games in existence, including upcoming games like Iron Man that will be arriving from EA Motive. That particular title still doesn’t have a release date, however, which suggests that there will be an even larger time gap before this alleged MCU video game gets off the ground.
On that note, and as mentioned, it’s unclear what this particular game would revolve around. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe having introduced a wide number of superhero characters so far, however, we could expect to see plenty of different options for the game to focus on. It could be about a single character, or numerous different options. And, of course, the very real possibility that a MCU video game could revolve around an original superhero character as well.
Ultimately, even though it’s been nearly two decades, it goes to show that the MCU still has plenty of new mediums to expand its reach to. Hopefully time will tell how this project shapes up if it really is in the works.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the potential development of this Marvel Cinematic Universe video game as we have them. It does seem like a real possibility that such a game is in the works, especially when considering the success that the MCU has had so far with films, television, and even comic books.
