The Terrifier film franchise is set to deliver fans its third installment so far. Additionally, director Damien Leone has already confirmed that Terrifier 4 is currently in the works. Now, however, he reveals that Terrifier 4 could offer the popular horror film franchise “a satisfying conclusion.”
This may be surprising for some fans of the character. Especially now that we’re only just beginning to get to the center of Art the Clown’s story and the supernatural world around him. Terrifier 3 is set to further explore these concepts following the events of Terrifier 2.
Nonetheless, by the time of Terrifier 4, it seems like writer and director Damien Leone has plans to wrap everything up with a proper conclusion. Here’s what he shared on that front with SFX via Games Radar:
“My big fear is of going on too long and wearing out my welcome,” he explains. “Because that does happen to all of my favourites. Almost always it happens to the slasher franchises where they make 10 of them. I want to have a solid franchise, whether it be a trilogy – or maybe a quadrilogy if I have one more in mind – where it starts, where it ends, and you can walk away with a satisfying conclusion and closure and say that was pretty cool. I know what that is. So that would be the goal.”
He further explains that the entire story has been mapped out since the second installment with plans to end the franchise sooner rather than later:
“I have the whole story mapped out. I had it mapped out since part two, honestly, which is huge. Knowing where you’re going to end it is probably the hardest thing and I figured out the ending to this a while ago.”
Of course, before we can even consider where Terrifier 4 might go, we’ll have to see how the third installment turns out. Terrifier 3 is set to be released this month on October 11, 2024.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Terrifier film franchise updates as we have them. Of course, even if Terrifier 4 is planned as the final outing for Art the Clown, we’ve seen how the popularity of certain horror franchises can keep them from ending. After all, Friday the 13th was once intended to end with its fourth entry as well.
