The Terrifier film franchise is already recognized for being gory, violent, and disturbing for many viewers. For those questioning if the latest entry might lessen any of those qualities, the opposite is true. In fact, it’s been said that an early screening of the film in the UK actually prompted nine people to walk out after the opening scene of Terrifier 3 proved to be too shocking.
Not only did nine viewers leave at that point, but in total there was said to have been eleven people altogether to have left the theater. If that wasn’t enough, LADbible adds “that there was one fan confirmed to have puked.”
The film’s writer and director, Damien Leone, was well-aware of how gruesome and intense this opening scene turned out to be. He shared the following warning:
“Mark my words,” Leone begins, “I guarantee you the first five minutes of this movie is going to be very controversial.”
However, he adds the following about the Terrifier 3 opening:
“But that’s not even the big kill scene,” Leone adds, “so that’s why I was like, I need to just make this movie on my own, because it’s too insane.”
He also insists that the film is much more violent than Terrifier 2, which itself inspired a number of theater patrons to leave screenings if they weren’t already throwing up or fainting. So yes, for any fans afraid that Terrifier 3 might be too polished or censored, it seems as though the opposite is true.
