Fans of the John Wick film franchise have been eagerly awaiting the property’s first big screen spin-off, the upcoming film Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas this time around. On that note, however, Keanu Reeves is still set to make an appearance as the iconic assassin. Now the first trailer for Ballerina has been released online, delivering what fans have hoped to see for quite some time over the last couple of years.
The new spin-off has been in the works for years now, with its origins traced back to 2017. As such, it’s nice to finally see footage from the long-awaited feature, which also stars Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino, Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Ian McShane. Additionally, late actor Lance Reddick will be featured in the film posthumously.
Interestingly, it appears as though the film itself takes place between the events of the third and fourth John Wick films. As such, it explains how Keanu Reeves‘ character can be present, and it likely serves up some additional context regarding the fourth film and what we might be able to expect in a potential fifth.
Here’s the official trailer for the all-new John Wick spin-off Ballerina which was directed by Len Wiseman from a screenplay by Shay Hatten:
The new film, fully billed by Lionsgate as From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, is set to hit theaters on June 6, 2025. We should have more insight regarding the project including more footage in the coming months.
