Netflix has officially announced that another one of their series has been canceled. This time, however, Netflix made the decision to cancel this particular series after only one season on their streaming platform.
Interestingly, however, the series itself was a spin-off of another popular Netflix show. And, funnily enough, the streaming platform has chosen to renew the flagship series. As for this spin-off, however, fans will have to accept that it will be concluded prematurely at one season.
Interestingly, the outlet adds that the series “opened well, relatively speaking, remaining in the Netflix Top 10 English TV charts for three weeks after its release.” However, they then note it eventually “dropped to number three in its first full week of availability but rose in total views to 4.7 million. It then dropped to just 1.8 million views in week three before falling off the Top 10 chart.”
As shared by Variety:
“‘Dead Boy Detectives’ has been canceled at Netflix. The series aired its one and only season at the streamer on April 25.”
Therefore, while the streaming series performed well initially, the ratings dropped soon after. It seems this was enough of a reason for Netflix to cancel the series altogether after a single season on their platform. While fans of Dead Boy Detectives will be disappointed, it’s worth celebrating that the world of The Sandman is still continuing via the flagship series.
Dead Boy Detectives was developed by Steve Yockey and based on the DC Comics characters of the same name. The cast includes George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, Kassius Nelson, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Yuyu Kitamura, and Jenn Lyon.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding this canceled Netflix series as we have them. In the meantime, fans can still enjoy the renewal of The Sandman even if Dead Boy Detectives has been canceled.
