A beloved Fox television series is coming to an end. The network has sadly decided to cancel a fan-favorite series. Fortunately, a fifth season is on the way to conclude the show’s story for viewers.
This announcement for the drama show’s latest season, which is set to debut via Fox at the end of this month, also revealed that the season will consist of 12 episodes.
While the season will begin airing on September 23, the finale of the season is scheduled to air in early 2025.
As shared via Deadline regarding the Fox series:
“It’s official: the upcoming fifth season of Fox‘s 9-1-1: Lone Star will be its last. The first responders drama’s final 12-episode run kicks off Sept. 23, with the series finale slated for early 2025.”
The outlet also notes that 9-1-1 Lone Star will be “the last drama series on the network produced by its former corporate sibling 20th Television which used to supply the majority of the Fox’s scripted series before the TV studio, along with other assets, was sold to Disney in 2019.”
Additionally, the series is said to not be making the move to Disney‘s ABC like its predecessor. Interestingly, while 9-1-1 ended its own run after six seasons on Fox last year, it has since been given more seasons at its new network. It’s also possible that another 9-1-1 spin-off could be greenlit in the future. Lone Star, however, seems to be at its complete end.
Fox TV Network President Michael Thorn shared the following statement on that front:
“From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television — Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear — for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere,” Thorn began. “Now in our final season of the show, we’re set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”
