The Jurassic World franchise is moving forward. The movie Jurassic World Dominion was previously believed to be the last installment in the series, but it’s clear things are pushing ahead with the newly-titled sequel Jurassic World Rebirth. As you can see below, the first images for Jurassic World Rebirth have been released online, and it clarifies that this sequel will be a departure from its predecessors.
For starters, the film will revolve around a new cast. This cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Other cast members include Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda as the family of Garcia-Rulfo’s character. Phillipine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein are featured as members of the crews led by Johansson’s and Ali’s characters.
As shared by Variety, the new film is set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, when “the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs.” Here’s what else the plot summary reveals:
“Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived,” the synopsis continues. “The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
The synopsis also confirms the presence of a civilian family “whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos,” which leads them all to be “stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”
