A fan-favorite series canceled last year in 2023 is officially coming to Netflix. The streaming giant has been a great place for a variety of canceled shows to find a new audience. Now fans and newcomers will be able to enjoy this particular show that was prematurely canceled.
What’s more, if the show does well enough on Netflix, then there’s a chance that the streaming giant will be able to greenlight new seasons of the series.
As for now, subscribers will be able to view the existing two seasons which were previously produced for Starz.
This exciting announcement reveals that the two seasons of the series will be arriving to streaming via Netflix on September 15, 2024.
As shared via EW:
“Heels is about to step into the biggest ring on streaming.
“Both seasons of the wrestling drama — starring Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig as brothers struggling to launch their Georgia-based wrestling promotion into the big leagues — are coming to Netflix on Sunday, September 15.”
Showrunner Mike O’Malley is especially optimistic about bringing the series back for new seasons as well. While series star Stephen Amell has been busy with Suits: LA, O’Malley doesn’t think this will have a negative impact on the potential future of Heels.
“To a person, every single person involved in this show wants to make more Heels,” he says. “The success of Suits: LA will just drive more people to watching Stephen’s work on Netflix. It doesn’t take that long to make a season of Heels. It’s very labor intensive, but there are windows of time during hiatuses to make more.”
He further explained the potential in having Netflix greenlight new seasons of Heels:
“Netflix is very practical,” O’Malley adds. “If a lot of people watch the show, then there’s a real chance that we can make more. And if people don’t, there’s no reason to make more… The acting performances are so authentic and so genuine by every actor in this series, and I am thrilled that this platform will allow more people see those performances.”
As such, not only can fans enjoy the two seasons of the canceled series on Netflix, they have an opportunity to convince the streaming service to produce more seasons as well. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any further updates regarding Heels and Netflix as we have them.
