The streaming era can be quite unpredictable for certain films and shows. As such, it’s just been confirmed that a fan-favorite series on Max has been canceled after a mere two seasons on the platform.
Though this is already disappointing news for those who enjoy the series, it’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first cancellation for this particular IP. As such, it may sting twice as hard for those who waited so long for this particular series to come back.
It’s worth noting that this revival was ordered for Max in 2021 with two seasons planned. The first season premiered in 2023 and the second season premiered earlier this year in 2024. Now, however, it appears that the platform will not be greenlighting a third season.
As shared by Variety:
“The ‘Clone High’ revival has been canceled at Max.”
Max themselves issued the following statement on the matter:
“Although Max will not proceed with a third season of ‘Clone High,’ we will always cherish our creative partnership with Chris Miller, Phil Lord, Bill Lawrence, Erica Rivinoja, Erik Durbin, Judah Miller, Corey Campodonico, Alex Bulkley, and the team at MTV Entertainment Studios,” Max shared. “The incredibly talented voice actors, writers, cast and crew provided the opportunity to thaw out these legendary characters.”
The first cancellation for Clone High occurred after the show’s original run between 2002 and 2003. At that time, the series only lasted one season, so fans were delighted to see it revived two decades later. Unfortunately, while fans had the opportunity to see another two seasons released, it looks like the show’s iconic characters are once again being put on ice.
