    Blumhouse and Todd McFarlane Tease New ‘Spawn’ Movie ‘King Spawn’

    We’ve received occasional updates regarding the latest progress on the long-awaited Spawn movie reboot for years now. The project has most recently been in the works at Blumhouse, and now producer Jason Blum has delivered one of the biggest Spawn updates yet. He’s shared a look at the screenplay which includes the new title: King Spawn.

    The screenplay confirms that the new script for King Spawn has been completed. The credited writers are listed as Matt Mixon, Malcom Spellman, and Scott Silver. Mixon and Spellman were previously involved with writing The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, while Silver wrote the box office hit Joker.

    Interestingly, the title seems to suggest that the film will adapt the King Spawn storyline which is relatively new to the comics. The storyline, introduced in 2021, includes the following logline:

    “When one of the vilest creatures ever imprisoned in Hell is released back onto Earth, Spawn follows the clues right into a trap set just for him. But why does Kincaid want Spawn to ascend the throne of Hell, and what of the prophecy of the King Spawn?”‘

    Other details regarding the project are currently being kept under wraps. It was previously reported that actor Jamie Foxx was attached to play the titular character, though it’s been several years since his involvement was first announced. As such, we’ll have to see if Foxx will still play Spawn or if another actor will take on the role.

    The character was previously portrayed by Michael Jai White in 1997’s Spawn, a live-action movie featuring the comic book character first introduced in 1992, and an animated series for HBO which starred Keith David as the voice of Spawn.
